Reception is an important part of any bars, offices, restaurants and hotels. Generally reception furniture are massively different for the above industries. However you surely can spot the difference between an office reception and a hotel reception the difference will be HUGE. All of the above businesses have to receive people from outside and the reception is definitely the first thing their customers/clients are going to see.
Digital media companies around the UK have absolutely fabulous reception area. Last one I went to was located in London and it had a bar with club furniture around the bar. It looked more like a mini bar but very eye catchy. That was the first impression on me and I was very – very impressed. You only get once chance to make a good first impression.
I decided to do something like that in my office for our reception but with a twist. I wanted to have cafe furniture with the couches you see in many cafes. I also moved the small aquarium from the reception to my office and replaced it with American pool table. I thought as we are a law firm we get pretty tensed clients, bit of pool will certainly cheer them up. After the changes we got really good feedback from our existing clients and we are certainly getting more and more new clients. I also have to say a big thank you to my secretary and my colleagues as they gave me some advice on the new reception.
Now our reception not only has the basic requirement of desks, chairs and others, it also has a creative and fun side with a pool table. This brilliant change has made our clients feel like at home and not somewhere they don’t feel comfortable. An office for a legal profession as ours, have to spend a lot of on the reception area as most of the times meeting rooms are occupied and you can deal with your clients outside in the reception.
